Donald Trump’s idiot tour

Fairly early into my day, I begin wondering which debacle orchestrated by our faux president will most pique my interest. The problem is that there are so many of them one can easily become overwhelmed. The two things that seem to surround every debacle are Trump’s corruption, his abject inability to lead, and his shamelessness at his own stupidity. Okay, that’s three, but the list is much longer. Today, for example, Amy Goodman of Democracy Now wrote a very interesting opinion piece about the Trump families latest grift-cryptocurrency. According to researcher Molly White, Trump “has raised nearly a billion dollars from his various cryptocurrency schemes,” all of which is going into his pocket.
With respect to Trump’s “leadership” skills, he has none. Instead of leading, Trump has tried to ram through unconstitutional executive orders and worrying about things that have nothing to do with governing this country. Consider his attempts to take over Greenland. What does that country have to do with the U.S.? The Wall Street Journal recently reported that U.S. Intelligence Agencies are upping spy capabilities in Greenland, and Tulsi Gabbard is having a fit, claiming that WSJ’s article is “endangering national security.” No, whoever leaked the information did that, but the question is: why are they doing this anyway? According to WSJ, Intelligence is “gather[ing] information on the island’s independence movement and attitudes on American resource extraction.” Again, why? This is yet another stunt being pulled by Trump and his incompetent administration to deflect from the fact that they are doing nothing, which rolls straight into the stupidity of Trump and his entire administration.
Prime Minister Carney was not at all impressed with Trump, and in fact, took the opportunity to correct Trump’s tall tales during the meeting. The Irish Star reported that Carney was elected because he promised to “stand up” to Trump, and he did exactly that by calling Trump on his nonsense about annexing Canada in front of reporters. In response to Trump’s claim that Canada could become the U.S.’ “51st state,” Carney responded: “There are some places that are never for sale,” to which Trump responded: “never say never.” Carney responded: “Respectfully, Canadians view on this is not going to change.” Case closed, end of story. Trying (unsuccessfully) to save face, Trump claimed that the U.S. doesn’t do much business with Canada, which PM Carney also contradicted: “They do a lot of business with us. We’re at like 4%, and usually those things don’t last very long. …[W]e have great things, great product-the kind of product … no one else can sell, including military.” Canada is also involved in U.S. automobile production. After PM Carney finished wiping the floor up with Trump, it was reported that Trump looked at the ground and claimed the exchange was “very friendly.”
Donald Trump has no idea how ridiculous he looks. People are laughing at him, yet he continues his idiot tour, signing executive orders that will ultimately be stricken down instead of governing. He is not going to win in any fights with the judiciary, especially with John Roberts, who his administration recently sued. It cannot be any clearer: the Trump experiment is a failure.
