Donald Trump’s desperation is becoming obvious

Yesterday Donald Trump decided to send the United States military into Los Angeles, and then publicly advocated for the arrest of California Governor Gavin Newsom. Trump is playing a very, very dangerous game. There’s no way to predict with any certainty how this will play out. But I can tell you this: it’s not going nearly as well for Trump as some people think it is.

Over the weekend I pointed out that this is all just a distraction on Trump’s part. He just lost Elon Musk, the guy who bought him the presidency. It made Trump look weak and inept and stupid all at the same time. The one brain cell that still seems to be working in Trump’s failing mind is that he still knows how to move on from one problem by creating another problem for him. And that’s what Trump is doing here.

I want to be as clear as possible: for all the doomsday prophecies out there right now, Donald Trump can not just magically “violence” his way into gaining power. We keep hearing that all Trump has to do is send troops, wait for a violent clash to break out, and woah, all of a sudden he’s Emperor. Nothing is ever that simplistic. There is a whole lot that could go wrong with the current situation. But Trump becoming more powerful is not a realistic outcome.

Why? Because he’s a moron. He always has been. Banks have handed him limitless money over the years, and he’s still never managed to stay out of debt. He had a Republican House and Senate and still couldn’t make anything happen with it. Musk bought Trump a second term, and Trump couldn’t even figure out how to keep Musk on his side.

More to the point, Trump has never been able to “violence” his way into gaining power. The Trump-inspired debacle in Charlottesville only served to weaken Trump. The Trump-incited January 6th attack served to weaken him severely. In fact Trump was so weak after January 6th that the media had to spend every day normalizing him for four years just to rehabilitate his image.

Over the years some things have worked in Trump’s favor. Trying to incite violence has not. I’m greatly concerned about all the ways in which Trump’s latest attempt at inciting violence could go wrong. But I don’t see Trump coming out of this more powerful. It’s just never worked that way for him, no matter how many times he’s tried.
