Donald Trump sticks it to JD Vance

Donald Trump sat down for his Super Bowl interview, bringing back an annoying tradition that really benefits the media and no one else really – his own base included. Even if Trump gave a somewhat lucid interview, it really wouldnโt change too many minds as the average person is at a bar or a house party, not paying much attention to any news unrelated to sports before the game starts.
With Fox News tackling what usually is a softball interview by nature, itโs hardly a surprise that Bret Baier didnโt ask anything in-depth and generally gave Donald Trump a free pass on pretty much all the topical questions related to politics. What is surprising, particularly to Baier, is that when pressed on whether or not JD Vance would have Trumpโs endorsement as a successor, Trump was a solid โnoโ on the subject, despite Baierโs persistent pushing.
Baier admitted his surprise, as Trump seemed to push for the idea of a vast, contested primary in 2028 rather than handing the reins of MAGA over to Vance, something that Vanceโs job seems to entail by its very nature. The implication here is that the brains in the party have been banking on Vance somehow being able to ride the coattails of Donald Trump, whoโs clearly doing as much as he can to distance himself from his own veep – a move that comes shortly after Vance is making some questionable moves of his own that put his ignorance on display. MAGA may be a cult, but the question is how cohesive will the movement be once its original leader is no longer in the picture?
