Donald Trump just screwed up

Donald Trump is desperate to distract Americans from his humiliating split with Elon Musk, and from his highly unpopular budget bill. So he’s doing what desperate people tend to do: he’s taking a big risk in the hope of turning things around for himself. He’s essentially sent the military to invade Los Angeles, in the hope that he can incite violence so he can then use that violence as a false justification for having sent the military.

Thus far a complicit media has largely been willing to help Trump sell the phony narrative that Los Angeles is violently out of control and that he had no choice but to send in the military. But now the Trump regime has screwed up – in a big way.

Yesterday Senator Alex Padilla approached Trump Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem and tried to ask her a question. In response, the Trump regime had Padilla violently thrown to the ground – even though he hadn’t taken an aggressive posture and had clearly identified himself as a United States Senator.

This debacle was atrocious, shameful, and dangerous. But it was also a very, very dumb move by the Trump regime. Suddenly the media has something far juicier to talk about than the nature of the protesters. Video of Senator Padilla being thrown to the ground, while Noem stood there and let it happen, is going viral. It’s being aired on television over and over. It’s the story right now. And it makes the Trump regime look like the violent thugs who are acting illegally, not the protesters.

In these situations, narrative is everything. Perception is everything. And that all just changed in the eyes of the average mainstream American. Trump briefly sorta kinda had the false narrative that he wanted. Then he and his idiot sidekicks did what they always do when given the chance: they blew it.
