Donald Trump just got his ass handed to him

Over the weekend I pointed out that Donald Trump’s approval rating has drifted so low that the media is finally making a big deal out of it. Any US President, even a psychotic one, is dependent upon popularity in order to derive power – and Trump is starting to lose his. There are also other ways to size up Trump’s decline in popularity, such as when people show up and vote – and not just in this country.

We’ve already seen Trump’s Republican Party get creamed in a competitive Wisconsin Supreme Court election, and severely underperform in what were supposed to be blowout special election wins. Now we’re getting additional confirmation of just how severely Trump is heading south, from our neighbors to the north.

Canada held its big election last night, and while its parliamentary system is different from ours, suffice it to say that the liberal party won big while Trump’s favored conservative party lost badly. Make no mistake, this was a direct result of Trump’s hostile and idiotic attacks on Canada. At one point Canada’s conservative party had been favored to win. But then Trump got involved, and last night you saw the result.

So now we have hard numerical confirmation that Trump really is sinking. He’s sinking here in the United States (and resorting to desperate moves and absurd rhetoric to try to distract from his weakness), and he’s sinking conservative politicians across the border as well. It’ll be interesting to see what happens in other upcoming elections in various nations. At this point no one wants to be associated with Trump in any way, shape, or form.
