Donald Trump just caved – again

For all of Donald Trump’s endless posturing, and for all of the media’s eternal insistence that Trump is a dangerously powerful strongman, the reality is that Trump has always been weak. More specifically, whenever he’s faced with superior power, he always caves. Always. And then he does some other stupid thing to distract everyone from the fact that he just caved again. It’s been the one consistent thing about Trump over the past ten years.

Palmer Report has spent a decade calling out Trump’s propensity to cave. But now everyone else seems to be catching on as well. He’s been hit with the nickname “TACO” which stands for “Trump Always Chickens Out.” Trump has reacted angrily toward this nickname. But now he’s once again reminding everyone of why he got stuck with it in the first place.

Trump’s Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent admitted in front of the TV cameras yesterday that Trump’s “pause” on most of his tariffs will continue past the original ninety days that Trump initially announced. In other words, just as we predicted from the start, Trump’s tariffs are never coming back.

Trump is simply not strong enough, at home or on the world stage, to make most of his international tariffs stick. Trump took a swing at the world, the world swung back, and now Trump is chickening out and hiding under his desk – just like always.

Even as Trump tries to find a way to make himself look strong by sending the military into Los Angeles in the hope of a violent clash, let’s all remember just how weak Trump truly is. This is a guy who can’t even manage to pull off a simple tariff, let alone a military dictatorship.
