The most mysterious time of day is the dead of night, to be sure. Perhaps it’s because of the inherent look and feel of darkness blanketing the earth. And so it stands to reason that when night falls, many creatures scuttle out of hiding. They appear to be at home in the darkness, happy to come out into the musky velvet of night.

And this weekend, many creatures came out of hiding. They came out to see their failed master Donald J. Trump give yet another rally. This one took place in Arizona. Arizona, home to the Grand Canyon and the magnificent red rocks, is also home to many deranged Maga, many of whom seemed happy to settle in to cheer on their favorite traitor.

But a curious thing happened. It was very curious indeed. Trump talked — and talked with the same stale rhetoric that all but the most faithful could plainly see had zero meaning.

And he got booed. Loudly. By his own people. The apparent reason for the booing was Trump’s mention of a candidate whom Maga does not appear to like very much. Eli Crane is the name, and Crane is running in the Arizona congressional primaries.

Trump endorsed Crane and brought him up. And then the boos started, raining down on the traitor like sleet. They were loud too, and they wouldn’t stop. And the traitor noticed. He appeared stunned that anyone would dare to boo him, let alone his own people.

At first, Trump appeared to be trying to find the source of the booing. No luck there. There were too many people booing.

Then the Trump monster said this: “But, you like me, right?” It was quite a moment. The reason for the Crane booing appears to be because he doesn’t appear to have close ties to the area he is running to lead.

It’s not surprising that Trump’s method of handling the madness was to seek self-validation. It is always about him. He may not give a damn about his supporters, but that does not mean he wants them to not give a damn about him.

It was a sight to see and a welcome one. The traitor wants approval and admiration, and when he doesn’t get it, his answer was to beg for it.
