We are going to win the midterms. We are going to keep the House. We are going to expand our Senate majority. We are going to win Governor’s races. We are going to do it because we can. We have the momentum. We have the candidate quality. And we have the terrible decision-making of the other party — the non-party — of insurrection-supporting loonies.

The GOP has already made its decision. Their die has been cast. It was cast directly after January 6, when they chose to cross the Rubicon. Crossing the Rubicon is an allusion to the crossing of the river by Julius Caesar in 49 BC. His crossing the river was the point of no return that led to his becoming Roman Dictator.

Crossing the Rubicon means passing a point of no return. It is not to be taken lightly. The GOP crossed the Rubicon directly after January 6. And THAT is part of why we are going to win. In some ways, the Republican party abdicated complete responsibility when they crossed the Rubicon. They showed that their allegiance was not to US – to America- to the People – but to themselves and a cult leader with not one ounce of moral fiber.

They showed America who they were. I would go so far as to say this was perhaps the most consequential decision the GOP has ever made — choosing to cross the Rubicon in support of Donald Trump.

It wounded them. It showed, perhaps more than anything else, their true duplicitous nature. And they cannot go back. They are victims of their horrible decision-making. So please — let’s ride the wave these last few weeks. If you get discouraged, think of the GOP’s fateful decision that doomed them — and take heart in our work and the wind at our backs.
