Donald Trump’s pal Elon Musk is raiding the Treasury Department and reportedly trying to get his hands on things like people’s social security numbers. What’s he up to? Nothing good, and nothing sane. But now there’s some good news.
The courts have issued a temporary restraining order today that blocks Musk from accessing this kind of Treasury Department data. This is a good start. It’s also a reminder that the Democrats are going to win some of these battles they’re fighting, and that it’ll more often happen in a courtroom than anywhere else.
This doesn’t mean the battle is over. It’s just beginning. And this ruling, so far, is only a temporary reprieve. But it’s a start. We have to do our part by making as much noise about this as possible and making sure the general public understands how insane and illegal the Trump-Musk coup is.
