Now that Joe Biden has picked the one running mate Donald Trump fears most, Trump doesn’t know what to do with himself. This morning he tweeted that Kamala was the kind of opponent “everyone dreams of” but we all know his dreams about her are nightmares. Trump seems afraid to attack Kamala, so instead he’s attacking Cory Booker – and it turns out he can’t even spell Cory Booker.

Trump posted this bizarre tweet which managed to be explicitly sexist and explicitly racist at the same time: “The ‘suburban housewife’ will be voting for me. They want safety & are thrilled that I ended the long running program where low income housing would invade their neighborhood. Biden would reinstall it, in a bigger form, with Corey Booker in charge!”

Okay, where do we even start? First of all, not all suburban women are housewives. Painting all suburban women with the same brush is an insult to all suburban women, including housewives. Second, could this tweet be any more racist? Trump is flat out saying that Joe Biden is going to put a black guy in charge of housing who will move a bunch of low income people of color into your white suburban neighborhood, so look out! This is just pathetically racist. To be clear, there’s no indication whatsoever that Biden might put Booker in charge of housing.

Also, who is “Corey Booker” supposed to be? His name is Cory Booker. We don’t care that Donald Trump is barely literate. We do care that even with the vast resources of the presidency at his immediate disposal, Trump still can’t be bothered to get the names right of the public figures he’s attacking. Everything about Trump is embarrassing – including the fact that his fear of attacking Kamala Harris has led him to simply attack a different Black Senator, as if they were somehow interchangeable. What a racist creep.
