But here we are

Yesterday the world’s wealthiest man appeared to publicly accuse the President of the United States of being a child rapist, and then the President of the United States retaliated by canceling the richest man in the world’s government contracts, and then the richest man in the world threatened to strand astronauts in outer space. It wasn’t surprising, given that these are two of the most mentally unstable people of this era. But it’s still surreal given that these two men were publicly allies as recently as twenty-four hours earlier.

This feud between Donald Trump and Elon Musk was always inevitable. These two men had nothing in common to begin with beyond greed and sociopathy. They only came together because they each wanted to plunder the nation for their own personal gain. Once that ran its course, they were never going to remain allies. They were always going to turn on each other, and it was always going to be roughly this ugly. But still.

At what point do we acknowledge how truly unhinged and insane this is? This is the kind of feud you might expect between two unfortunate souls in a mental health facility who were hallucinating and only thought they were the President of the United States and the richest man in the world. The fact that these two are actually the President of the United States and the richest man in the world is just… I don’t know how to describe it, because no one ever thought to create words in the English language to cover such an impossible scenario.

The real question is what we do next. As far these two numbskulls feuding with each other, I suppose we should just be thankful for it. It’s absurd that either of these buffoons is in a position of power, and it’s tragic that innocent Americans may end up getting hurt as a result of this feud. But if Trump and Musk really do want to try to publicly destroy each other like this, then so be it. We can’t stop them. All we can do is root for them to damage each other as much as possible, even as we size up the fallout and identify new vulnerabilities they’re creating on their side of the political fence that we can exploit. Remember, this is about 2026. Trump and Musk are unwittingly trying to hand us the midterms by such a large margin that even they may not be able to rig it. So let’s make sure we seize the moment, even as we enjoy the show.
