This week Donald Trump made the absurd miscalculation of attending the World Series, and thinking the Washington DC area fans at the game would greet him in the same manner his drooling base does at his rallies. Instead, baseball fans very loudly booed Trump when his face appeared on the jumbotron, and then they began loudly chanting “Lock him up!” It was a reminder of just how thoroughly he’s hated in the nation’s capital.

Now Trump has apparently decided that he wants to get booed again. He’s decided to attend the UFC match at Madison Square Garden in New York City on Saturday night, according to CNN’s Jim Acosta. This seems like a really bad idea, for a couple reasons.

Maybe Trump is counting on the UFC fan demographics to be more friendly to him. But baseball demographics are already skewed more toward him than most other major sports, and that didn’t help him one bit at the World Series. Moreover, Trump’s hometown of New York City hates him even more than Washington DC does.

Come to think of it, as of yesterday, New York City is no longer Donald Trump’s hometown, as he officially changed his state residency to Florida out of financial desperation. We don’t think that’ll be lost on the Madison Square Garden crowd on Saturday night. Maybe Trump has simply decided he likes getting booed.
