It’s becoming increasingly clear that Donald Trump is going down for numerous crimes; it’s up to him how he wants to go down. Now that Special Counsel Robert Mueller is offering some concessions with regard to a potential interview, Trump has to decide whether to take his fate into his own hands by doing the interview, or simply refuse to cooperate and take his chances. Now Trump is revealing that he would much rather go down in a blaze of glory.

Tonight the New York Times is reporting that, against the advice of his attorneys, Donald Trump wants to go ahead and do the interview. Considering the identity of the reporter in question, it’s not difficult to figure out that Trump himself is the source of this story. So now we know that Trump wants everyone to know that he’s fearlessly planning to sit down with Mueller. That’s all well and good, except that those who want Trump to go down are rooting for him to do the interview, and those who are rooting for Trump are hoping he won’t do it.

Objectively speaking, based on Donald Trump’s nature, there is no chance that he emerges from an interview with Robert Mueller without having severely incriminated himself. Trump will spend parts of the interview lying about his own actions, which will allow Mueller to nail him for lying to federal investigators, because Mueller already knows everything that happened. Trump will spend other parts of the interview trying to impress Mueller by bragging about his crimes, allowing Mueller to nail him in more direct fashion.

But none of that reality seems to be intruding on Donald Trump’s delusions. He’s a narcissist, he thinks he can sit down with Robert Mueller, and by the time the conversation is over, Mueller will be endorsing him for reelection. Trump is also trying to impress the public by falsely insisting that he’s doing the interview against his attorneys’ advice, when we’ve already heard his attorney Rudy Giuliani say a dozen times that he wants Trump to do the interview. Trump is setting himself up to go down in a blaze of self delusional glory – also known as prison.
