Palmer Report wrote yesterday about the Kavanaugh scandal exploding. The New York Times article was by Robin Pogrebin and Kate Kelly and was part and parcel of their book coming out Tuesday, “The Education of Brett Kavanaugh: An Investigation.” President Donald J. Trump immediately took to Twitter, attacking the NYT:

“Now the Radical Left Democrats and their Partner, the LameStream Media, are after Brett Kavanaugh again, talking loudly of their favorite word, impeachment. He is an innocent man who has been treated HORRIBLY. Such lies about him. They want to scare him into turning Liberal!”

Pretty rich language from a person who has sought expedited relief from the Supreme Court twenty-one times so far, more than double what his last two predecessors did in sixteen years, and someone who attacked the very same Supreme Court for not giving him carte blanche to add his census question.

In what likely is not a coincidence given how Attorney General William Barr and this administration work, they likely had wind of the investigative article and book set to publish Wednesday and the damaging allegations they contain. How do we know? In what can only be described as an oddity, the Justice Department announced on Friday that it would be awarding its second highest honor to the “Kavanaugh Team” for distinguished service.

The facts are still coming together on the investigation by Pogrebin and Kelly, but what they have reported is that one victim gave a list of 25 witnesses to the FBI, but they were not interviewed, as the Republican Senate had imposed very strict guidelines on the supplementary investigation. What role this team had in limiting the investigation, and steering the nominee to confirmation, remain open questions – but the timing of the announcement of the award with the revelations seems more than coincidental.
