Looks like Joe Biden is going to win Arizona after all
One of the strangest sagas of this four day long “Election Day” has been that of Arizona. The Associated Press and Fox News called the state for Joe Biden late on Tuesday night, but other major news outlets have still been teasing the remote possibility that Donald Trump could win the state.
Now we just got a major new batch of counted votes out of Maricopa County in Arizona. While they lean slightly in Trump’s direction, it doesn’t come even close to the ratio he was going to need in order to win. While there are still a handful of uncounted votes remaining in Arizona, it’s now pretty clear that Biden is going to win the state. It’ll be close, but probably not razor thin.
This means that in hindsight, the Associated Press and Fox News are vindicated for having called Arizona for Joe Biden. Now we wait for the other networks to also call Arizona for Biden. Interestingly, if Arizona and Nevada are called for Biden, it’ll get him to 270 even if the networks haven’t called Pennsylvania for Biden by that time.
We’re now left to wonder if the major news outlets might be waiting to call Pennsylvania, Arizona, and Nevada all at the same time, so they can present Joe Biden’s win as the decisive Electoral College victory that it is.
