700 HOURS
Tonight’s stimulus relief bill hammered out by Congress – which includes mere $600 direct checks for most Americans – is insufficient by any measure. It’s simply the most that Senate Republicans were going to allow under the current circumstances.
When Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced the deal tonight, she stressed the most important part of this: once Trump is gone, the political landscape will shift. Pelosi promised to deliver a better stimulus deal under President Biden, which she pointed out will happen in about “700 hours.”
That should serve to truly drive home just how close to being finished Donald Trump is. Whatever he does over the next 700 hours, he’ll still be out on his butt in 700 hours. At some point he’ll have to focus on trying to soften his landing with regard to prison and bankruptcy, instead of trying to terrorize us with dire threats he knows he can’t carry out. And in any case, we’re now at a point where we can count down the hours until he’s gone.
