Donald Trump had a really, really bad day yesterday. It was revealed that his own Secretary of State had called him a “f*cking moron” even as his Russia scandal continued to get uglier for him. Not shockingly, Trump woke up this morning and began angrily and semi-coherently ranting in frustration. What was surprising is that his meltdown involved everyone from Rex Tillerson to Geraldo Rivera.

Trump began his morning meltdown by retweeting Geraldo Rivera’s defense of his Puerto Rico visit, which may have set the bar at an all time low for Trump morning rants. From there it didn’t get any better. He tweeted about what a “wonderful” time he had in Las Vegas, even though he was visiting the aftermath of a mass shooting that cost more than fifty Americans their lives. Then Trump decided to launch one of his most jarring attacks on the media to date.

Trump tweeted “Why Isn’t the Senate Intel Committee looking into the Fake News Networks in OUR country to see why so much of our news is just made up-FAKE!” This was in apparent reference to the scrutiny now being given to English-language Russian propaganda networks such as RT, which are funded by the Kremlin and seemed to have been coordinating with the Trump campaign during the election. At this point Trump was calling for the American free press to be investigated by the government, while defending Kremlin propaganda networks.

Then Donald Trump bragged about the economy, seemingly without understanding that it’s a direct result of President Obama’s economic policies. Finally, he tweeted “Rex Tillerson never threatened to resign. This is Fake News put out by NBC News. Low news and reporting standards. No verification from me.” It’s not clear what he was even talking about here, or why he seems to think NBC or any news outlet should consider him a reliable witness. Trump is, after all, a moron.
