Donald Trump may only be attacking Rod Rosenstein as a preemptive Pee Pee Tape distraction

Like the rest of you, I’ve spent the day trying to make sense of the series of events we’ve just witnessed between Donald Trump and deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein. It’s clear that things have become chaotic, dire, farcical, pick your word. But here’s the thing: none of it makes any sense, not even by Trump’s usual demented standards. Within the context of last night’s press release, I can only come up with one logical explanation for Trump’s sudden attack on Rosenstein this morning.

The DOJ press release in question had Rosenstein’s name on it but was really just three sentences begging Americans not to believe any upcoming leaks to the media from overseas intel sources. The upshot was clear: Trump believed something along the longs of the mythical “Pee Pee Tape” might leak this morning, so he forced Rosenstein to put out that press release last night (or perhaps he had a staffer put it out under Rosenstein’s name – at this point who knows). But that wasn’t enough.

Right around 9:00 eastern time this morning, when you might expect a European leak to hit the newswires, Donald Trump began attacking Rod Rosenstein via Twitter: “I am being investigated for firing the FBI Director by the man who told me to fire the FBI Director! Witch Hunt” (link). Or at least we think Trump was attacking Rosenstein, as he didn’t mention his name, and it’s actually Robert Mueller who’s investigating Trump. But the tweet served its purpose: it set the media narrative for the day.

Let’s say the Pee Pee Tape had been leaked to the media this morning. It would have been a massive story, but it would have had to compete with Trump declaring open warfare against his own deputy Attorney General. As it turned out, nothing leaked this morning. Perhaps the leakers decided to hold back for another day so they wouldn’t have to compete with Trump’s distraction. But all I can figure is that Trump attacked Rosenstein this morning just to create a controversial story, in case he needed it. If you’re a regular reader, feel free to support Palmer Report

Remember (per Andrea Mitchell earlier), tomorrow is the 45th anniversary of the Watergate break-in, and Trump has his own possible Watergate scandal lurking, whether one calls Trump’s scandal “Watergate 2.0,” or “Leakgate,” or “PeePeeGate.”

      Making Water Gate . . .

I think you are right. But I also think, whoever started with the tape and who may have it now, are taunting him. the tape is his puppet string.
You know there has to be more then one tape of various activities, from let’s make a deal to, golden showers.
Not only is he an embarrassment to all, but I believe he will be more concern about is his wife and children, grandchildren. Going down in history with it.
Eventually it will surface, he will have to man up and take it.
But if this tape is more then sexual, then I’m guessing the FBI will not release it
And he will still have to man up. For him to react any time it’s mention my guess is
There is more to this then sex.

I’ve wondered if it was preparation for a possible retaliation from Cuba, as it is widely described to have an incredible human asset intel operation. I’ve heard jokes that Cuba’s #1 export is Intel.
Trump reversing normalized relations with Cuba is a strategical benefit for Putin. The US bashing & demonizing the Castro Regimen like its 1969 actually pushes Cuba back towards its Cold War dependency on the soviets. Trumps reversal is a positive move to enable Putin’s desired expansion towards USSR 2.0.

Maybe they gave it to a US source to drop. The big leaks from the US newspapers usually hit the cable news shows between 4 and 6 PM (ET). Wait for it…

OMFG. I am so weary of Trump and his minions hogging the news cycle with their ridiculous lies and accusations. Come on, overseas intel sources – give us some relief here!

When it comes to Trump, people believe he is guilty of most of the wrongdoings of which he’s been accused yet most people do not think that there is a pee-pee tape. I see things a little differently. Some of the wrongdoings of which he has been accused, I don’t believe at all simply because it would have taken someone with a brain to carry out these schemes and there is clear evidence that Trump does not have a fully functioning brain. He is likely guilty of obstruction of justice but I suspect that the collusion, if proved, will be connected to more intelligent(but equally loathsome) people in his cabinet and/or who were in his campaign. He likely knew about it but was not part of the orchestration.

On the other hand, I would bet a few bills that there is a pee-pee tape. Firstly, the action was meant to spite Obama and there is nothing Trump loves more, save Twitter, than spiting Obama. Secondly, the story from the dossier is simply too outrageous to be false. If the Brit Intel was false and created merely to smear the Orange Fuhrer, it would have contained a misdeed both offensive and believable because people would not have needed proof to believe something less insane than the pee party. I’m banking on the fact that this thing is real precisely because it is so ridiculous and I think it will see the light of day as soon as Putin, or those who possess it, believe that they cannot use it as leverage over a lame duck.

I’ve never wanted to be right so much in my life.
