Donald Trump’s behavior is growing more unstable and incoherent by the hour, as his criminal scandals close in on him and continue to pick off the people around him. His childishly inappropriate attack on LeBron James and his confused shrug toward Iran this weekend are merely the latest examples. But Trump’s tweets are nothing compared to the things he’s now saying in his political rallies. In fact his meltdown tonight was nothing short of senile.

Trump was trying to take credit for Katie Arrington’s Republican primary defeat of Mark Sanford, who famously disappeared to Argentina several years back while he was Governor of South Carolina. Here’s how he phrased it: “She beat a man that likes flamingo dancers from Argentina. He was supposed to be vacationing on the Tallahassee Trail, but he was actually in Argentina. Jim, do they have a Tallahassee Trail in Argentina? I don’t think so. No.” Wait, what?

For starters, Trump appeared to have been trying to refer to “Flamenco dancers” not “Flamingo dancers.” Flamingoes are the those tall pink birds – not that Trump has ever been to a zoo or anything. Okay, so he misspoke, or misread the script. So what, right? Except the scandal involved the Appalachian Trail; there is no “Tallahassee Trail.” This Guy has no idea what he’s babbling about. To make it worse, the “Jim” he was referring to is GOP Congressman Jim Jordan, who is likely headed to prison for allegedly trying to cover up a sexual abuse scandal at Ohio State University.

So here we are. Donald Trump is surrounding himself with the biggest pieces of crap on earth while rambling about dancing birds and imaginary trails, even as his top people go to jail and/or cut plea deals against him, and he’s trying to convince himself that this is all somehow going well for him.
