Paul Ryan just gave away that he knows he’s in deep trouble in the Trump-Russia scandal

Yesterday, word surfaced that Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein and FBI Director Christopher Wray initiated a meeting with Speaker of the House Paul Ryan. The subject: rogue and criminally out of control Republican Congressman Devin Nunes. He’s a prime suspect in Donald Trump’s treasonous Russia scandal, yet he’s been misusing his position as House Intel Committee Chairman to try to sabotage the investigation. Now we’re getting word about how that meeting went – and it’s particularly telling about Paul Ryan.

Paul Ryan ended up strongly backing Nunes during the meeting. There is no possible above-board explanation for this. Nunes is going to prison for obstruction of justice one way or the other, and Ryan can only serve to hurt himself – politically and legally – by siding with Nunes. According to various reports, Ryan is considering retiring at the end of his term anyway, as the Democrats are likely to take back the House, and Ryan would lose his Speakership one way or the other. There is only one reason why Ryan would be going down this road.

Think about it: you’re the Speaker of the House. You’re one of the most powerful people in your party. You’re second in line to the presidency. Yet when the FBI and the Department of Justice come knocking and essentially demand that you stop helping a peon backbencher Congressman commit a crime, for some strange reason you decide to put all your chips down on the peon.

Paul Ryan has managed to survive in politics for decades despite not being particularly skilled at it. He wouldn’t suddenly be willing to risk going down just to help his idiot acquaintance Devin Nunes with a crime spree – unless Ryan is trying to protect himself in the process. Ryan’s actions here give away he’s complicit in the Trump Russia scandal to begin with, and he knows he’s in deep trouble. Otherwise he wouldn’t even consider going this far down the Nunes rabbit hole.
