Last we checked, Donald Trump is supposed to be focused on the meetings he’s attending at the NATO summit, not melting down about total nonsense that only exists inside his head. Then again, Trump has already made a complete fool of himself at the summit already, so perhaps everyone involved is better of if he puts his focus elsewhere. Nonetheless, the extent to which Trump is melting down during the summit is, shall we say, jarring.

Even as his advisers continue to sell Trump out with plea deals, and the devastatingly ugly Paul Manafort trial is about to get hung around Trump’s neck like a lead balloon, he’s instead obsessed with imaginary aspects of the Trump-Russia scandal. For instance Trump is still pushing the false notion that FBI agents Peter Strzok and Lisa Page were conspiring against him, even after Trump’s own DOJ Inspector General ruled that they were not.

Trump’s remaining allies in the House are trying to give some degree of credibility to his delusional fantasies, by hauling in Strzok and Page to testify. In the case of Page, they refused to even tell her what she was going to be asked about, thus leaving her no choice but to defy their subpoena, so they could turn around and scandalize her for having refused the subpoena. Accordingly, an increasingly hallucinatory Trump appears to believe that this is something other than a dog and pony show.

As if to make clear just how obsessed Donald Trump is with the Strzok/Page fantasy, when he’s supposed to be focused on his NATO meetings, he just spelled it out for us, tweeting: “As I head out to a very important NATO meeting, I see that FBI Lover/Agent Lisa Page is dodging a Subpoena & is refusing to show up and testify. What can she possibly say about her statements and lies. So much corruption on the other side. Where is the Attorney General?” He’s admitting in exact words that he’s focused on this nonsense instead of his meetings.
