There is one person that President Donald Trump truly fears in his desperate quest to avoid being held accountable for a lifetime of glaring ethical and criminal lapses – Felix Sater. Think of Trump as being analogous to mob kingpin John Gotti and Sater as Sammy “The Bull” Gravano, his consigliere. Gotti kept getting put on trial and escaping convictions during his reign as head of the Gambino Crime Family. That all stopped when Gravano decided to cooperate and testify against his boss. Guess who made the deal that finally led to Gotti’s conviction? Robert Mueller.

When you go after the big fish, you must be very lenient with the smaller fish. Gravano was involved in at least 19 murders, but only given a 5-year prison sentence for ratting out Gotti. So why could Sater bring down Trump?

Let me count the ways: 1.) He has ties to Russian organized crime. 2.) He is a longtime friend of Trump personal lawyer and fixer, Michael Cohen. 3.) After joining the Real Estate firm, The Bayrock Group, he did repeated business with Trump on real estate ventures where he often secured Russian funding and buyers. 4.) He worked to get a long sought-after Trump building project in Moscow. 5.) He was part of a crazy scheme with Michael Cohen and former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn to help oust anti-Russian Ukrainian leader Petro Poroshenko. 6.) Most importantly, Sater was quoted back in the late summer as saying, “In about the next 30 to 35 days…I will be the most colorful character you have ever talked about. Unfortunately, I can’t talk about it now, before it happens. And believe me, it ain’t anything as small as whether or not they’re gonna call me to the Senate committee.”

Clearly the inference from that statement is that Sater was preparing to cooperate with Special Counsel Mueller. You have heard nary a word from Sater since. The reporting about him has also been limited, despite the feeding frenzy of investigative reporters trying to find scoops. Mueller has done a brilliant job of keeping important developments in the case from the public until he has to, such as when he arrested and got a plea agreement with George Papadopoulos. Soon a day of reckoning could be coming for Donald Trump courtesy of his old friend Felix Sater. Don’t say you weren’t warned.
