This morning Donald Trump launched into a pre-dawn unhinged rant on Twitter, as per usual. Then he launched into another rant this afternoon on a variety of topics, which is rare for him, and is usually a sign that he knows bad news is about to surface for him in his Trump-Russia scandal. Sure enough, now we know what it was that’s gotten Trump so agitated today, and what he was feverishly hoping to distract us from.

This evening the New York Times published a list of questions that Special Counsel Robert Mueller has sent over to Donald Trump’s legal team. The questions are guidepost for what Mueller wants to ask Trump about during a potential interview. It turns out there are nearly fifty questions in all. Rather than merely being about obstruction of justice, many of the questions focus on Trump’s knowledge and involvement in the treasonous acts committed by his advisers and family members.

The NY Times surely would have called Trump’s White House just before publishing the story in order to ask if Trump wants to provide comment for the story, meaning that Trump learned about this a little bit before the rest of us did. It explains why he’s been melting down all day. It erases any delusions he might have been clinging to about Mueller not really targeting him, or only investigating him for obstruction. This makes it clear that Mueller is looking to put Trump behind bars.

So now we know that Robert Mueller is targeting Donald Trump for pretty much every ugly Trump-Russia development we’ve been hearing about. Mueller is also targeting Donald Trump Jr and Jared Kushner over these matters, which means Trump and his family are going down. No wonder Trump went berserk tweeting about everything from caravans of people to his “unending stamina.”
